Raw Coconutty Goodness

don't really know what this is... it would make a good pie crust or maybe bars? I put in a dish and I'm eating it with a spoon... okay my fingers! I just poured stuff into a bowl, so these measurements aren't exact but I always suggest tasting along the way to make the sweetness to your liking.

1 c hazelnuts
2 c coconut shredded
1/2 c carob powder
1/2 c agave
1/4 c coconut cream - could use the butter
Some water

Process your hazelnuts.
Add agave and coconut cream or butter and process with nuts.
In a separate bowl mix shredded coconut and carob together.
Add your nut mix into the bowl with coconut/carob.
Mix it all together, may not be moist enough, I added a couple tablespoons of water as needed.

I pressed into a pie dish and I'm refrigerating it to see if it comes out well as bars. With keep you posted

Raw Mediterranean Hummus Recipe - Quick & Easy

Equipment Needed:
Food Processor
Peeler

I have tried so many recipes for a hummus and this is by far the best and do I dare say better than the cooked Mediterranean one I was buying before? Note that there are two sets of ingredients, this is for when you have guests or for yourself if you like your food to look 'pretty'.

Ingredients for base:
1 zucchini, peeled and chopped (can leave peel on but will change hummus color)
cup raw tahini (make sure you like your tahini because I've bought some icky tasting ones and will change flavor)
cup fresh lime or lemon juice
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoons celtic sea salt
tablespoon ground cumin (I like using seeds-more flavorful)
small handful of pine nuts (soaked)
parsley

Ingredients for top:
little bit of cold pressed olive oil
cayenne to liking (optional)
About a dozen pine nuts
T Italian seasoning

For the pretty version:
Put everything in your food processor from the 'ingredients for base' list (You can add some olive oil if desired). Put your hummus into the dish you are going to be serving it in. Sprinkle your italian seasoning on top, then press into the hummus the last of your pine nuts. Sprinkle cayenne if you like it spicy. Now top that with the olive oil, enough to put a thin layer. Leave it for your guests to mix it all together and enjoy!

The other option:
Put everything but a dozen pine nuts into your food processor (You can add some olive oil if desired). Put your hummus into your container and add the pine nuts and enjoy!

I recommend trying it the pretty way at least once. I think it's fun to have the toppings on there and then I can mix it all myself. Let me know if you try it!

Cloth Diapering

Who knew there was so much to this cloth diapering? I thought it was going to be easy. Buy the cloth part, buy the covers, maybe a few wool covers, a diaper pail and you're good to go. But no... there's prefolds, fitteds, pockets, all in ones, and probably more that I don't know about. And then just in the category of prefolds alone... there's hemp, bamboo, chinese, linen, cotton, organic cotton, fleece and then there's different thickness you can have to the prefolds.

At this point I would pay a cloth diaper advisor to come and buy everything I need and set it all up for me! There should definitely be a CD advisor service

Day Two Raw

Ate all raw yesterday and been eating raw all day today except for my apple sauce. I will make raw apple sauce in the future, but figured I'd finish what I have and not waste it. Had juice yesterday and today - carrot, apple, dandelion greens and parsley. Husband juiced with some Kale this afternoon and was a bit nauseating for me, I think kale is a bit harsh on my stomach right now.

Another reason why I wanted to go back to eating mostly raw is that the past two weeks I've been having some really bad heartburn. I can't believe some people live their lives constantly with heartburn, it's incredibly painful and was keeping me from some much needed sleep. To get rid of the heartburn I first upped my water intake. A big cause of heartburn is dehydration and I had not been drinking enough. So I've been filling a large cup  (about 40 oz) twice a day with ionized water at an alkaline pH of about 7.5-9 depending on how I'm feeling, I'll change the pH level. I started feeling relief after one big glass of water and there was little heartburn that evening and I only noticed it because husband asked about it. Also cut back a lot on gluten the following days and I believe that this was also a major culprit. As the following day I was feeling great until I had some bread and the heartburn came back. So.... more alkalized water, no gluten, and eating more raw foods is healing heartburn :)

Went for a swim today and did weights and stretching in the water. I found it very therapeutic and also safer being the I'm not very balanced lately!

T Minus 12 hours

Day 1 of my first blogging experience! So I've decided that beginning tomorrow I will be eating at least 90% raw foods. That gives me just over 6 weeks eating mostly raw until the baby's due date. Past few months I've been eating about 60-90% daily, depending on cravings :)

There's been so much coming out lately on 30-days raw, so here goes it in my last trimester of pregnancy!
